Ethical Business for Accountants

Accountants are invited to attend a more unusual CPD accredited training event being held in Southend this month entitled Ethical Business for Accountants.

Jill Poet, managing director of the Organisation for Responsible Businesses and an accountant by profession says that accountants need to understand the triple bottom line approach to business operations as it will benefit their practices and their clients’ businesses. As Jill explained:

“Accountants increasingly work closely with their clients to help them build profitable businesses, rather than just being year end ‘number crunchers.’  It is therefore extremely important they understand the need for their clients to demonstrate they are ethical and responsible businesses. Accountants might initially think this is soft and fluffy stuff that isn’t relevant, but they would be very wrong. Increasingly the public and the private and public sector want evidence that businesses are giving something back to society, supporting today’s youth, embracing equality and diversity, and reducing their environmental impact. All these things can lead to improved reputation, increased productivity, reduced overheads and a greater chance of winning contracts: in other words, increased profitability.”

The training is being held at the Park Inn Palace Hotel, Southend on 15th October. For more information and to book go to  http://www.orbuk.org.uk/CPD/Oct14
