Taster Day and Seed Share – coronavirus update – SUN 22/03 11-15 Southend in Transition Community Allotment

Hi, we are planning to have a the taster day on the plot as some of our members felt they would benefit from the fresh air and social contact where safe distance can be kept. In the context of the coronavirus we are making some modifications to manage better risks and benefits of being on the plot. I hope you understand and can join us for an enjoyable session. Growing your own food can help reduce your families dependency on store bought produce and leave more supplies for the elderly and vulnerable who might not be able to grow their own. You can also donate your surplus to local charities.

-if feeling unwell please check advice from Public Health and don’t come to the plot https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-information-for-the-public

– greeting from a distance or elbow fives recommended – it’s an open space so people can keep reasonable distance, 2 m recommended.
-if you are planning to bring children to the plot the parents will be responsible for supervision and ensuring social distancing is adhered to, we will suggest activities you can do in your family group

-handwashing facility to be provided, water, soap, alcohol gel

-food and drink- no potluck this time-everyone encouraged to bring own flasks/drinks and lunch /snacks

-for local updates sign up to Southend Borough Council newsletter and tick Public Health news https://public.govdelivery.com/accounts/UKSOUTHENDBC/subscriber/new?qsp=CODE_RED

Being in nature, doing physical activity and having positive social contact can improve wellbeing so we are able to weather all sorts of crisis better but consider your individual and social networks circumstances and health.
