Report from May Fayre 2017

We had a brilliant day at the Trust Links organised Fayre. We set up in a lush location and could witness the bees at work.

The children enjoyed the home made play dough and making a DIY mandala from newspaper cut outs.

We used that time to chat about Southend in Transition with adults introducing the community allotment and Repair Cafe ideas and everyone was interested and shared our interest in building resilient and connected communities. We had a few signs up for the newsletter, donations, books bought and seed shared.

Walking around the grounds you could see how the Fayre has grown from year to year and got better and better. There were bands, how roast, May Pole and there was even an inflatable bouncy castle! New comers commented how they went past the site hundreds of times to be surprised at how many different things were hidden away behind the shrubs.

You can meet us again tomorrow at the www.sitcommunityallotment.wordpress.com between 10-14. We will enjoy some gardening but also read a few poems during lunch time.

The venue is 34 Rocheway, Rochford SS4 1DQ. To get there you have to drive/walk/cycle to the end of Rocheway turning right into the Adult Community College car park (the College is boarded up), go across the car park and the building can be accessed from gates that are diagonally opposite to the car park entrance. The building is signed as Disability Essex – Centre for Disability Studies and is up the ramp through the gates (if coming by car and not needing a disabled space, please park in the main car park).

Walking Together Sponsored Walk

Saturday 17th September 2016

 

Trust Links, Southend’s local, independent charity for wellbeing and mental health is holding a sponsored walk to link up its three sites.

 

  • Growing Together Shoeburyness
  • Growing Together Westcliff
  • Growing Together Thundersley
  • The walk is approximately12 miles long

The Walking Together Sponsored Walk will take place on Saturday 17th September 2016.

It will leave Growing Together Shoeburyness at 8:30am and will aim to arrive at Growing Together Thundersley at approximately 2:00pm.

There will be a pit stop at Growing Together Westcliff.

Walkers will receive:

 

A certificate to recognise their effort

Walkers can sign up for the whole walk, or join or finish at the mid-way point when the walk arrives at Growing Together Westcliff

Trust Links is a small community-based charity in Southend supporting people with mental health problems and learning disabilities as well as environmental education and awareness.
We have exciting opportunities for enthusiastic, flexible and responsive staff to join our team.

Mental Health Support Worker (Salary: £26,000 pro rata; 20 hours per week)
Growing Together is a therapeutic and social gardening project in Southend providing a recovery service for adults with mental health problems and learning disabilities. The Mental Health Support Worker will provide support and care co-ordination for our Growing Together project members and must be a qualified Social Worker or CPN.

Administration Officer (Salary £15,000 pro rata; 30 hours per week)
Providing administrative support across the range of Trust Links projects including responding to all enquiries and processing financial transactions.

Support Workers – Bank (£7 – £10 per hour)
To provide one to one and group support for our Growing Together project members. Must like working with people and gardening or art activities and have experience of working with people with mental health problems and/or learning disabilities.

Project Workers (Self Employed)
We have a new short-term project talking to the public about energy saving. You must be enthusiastic and have excellent communication skills. Must be available mid February to end March.
