Lets suppose you have grown some oyster mushrooms and cant eat any more of them for a while, where do you keep the spare mushrooms??
An idea – If you leave your mushrooms to dry completely, around three days will do, they will become quite crispy and dehydrated. This means they can be stored long term. A plastic tub, glass jar will do the trick. A cool dark place also prevents any moisture build up and subsequent perishing of your shrooms.
The beauty of dehydrated mushrooms is that they retain their nutritional value over long periods, can be rehydrated at any time to nearly full size, and are very robust as a storage food. Dried mushrooms, like dried fruit and veg can be kept a long time in nearly any spare space available.
