It was a pleasure to take part in the Eco Fair at the Leigh Baptist Church. With plenty of stalls and activities for children and adults everyone we have met was impressed with the organisation and the variety of ideas they could pick up and products explored.
The kids enjoyed the scavenger hunt and the activity room with lots of eco crafts.

We spoke with dozens of local residents about Transition Towns, our community allotment, the repair cafe, sewing workshops and other projects locally they could get involved with.
For a donation we offered books to raise awareness, cakes and home made playdough – the proceeds are going to our running costs. Tilly prepared handouts about foraging and there was herbal tea to try to help people see the amazing abundance and value of nature. Fiona prepared the vision boards and visitors were asked questions to stimulate imagination which is so necessary at the moment to move us out of the denial and hopelessness towards positive action to build a sustainable future. “Who could you be…” a baker, an artist, a builder. “What if…” we developed a sustainable food system for Southend in the next 10 years time? How would it look like.
We signed up lots of you to our newsletter and hopefully we will see you at our Taster Days and other local events.
Again big thanks to Leigh Road Baptist Church and Eco Essex for getting everyone together.
