Essex Wildlife Trust and Southend-on-Sea Borough Council would like to invite you to the MaxiGreen “Raising Public Awareness” Conference on Wednesday 11 June 2014 at the Holiday Inn, Southend-on-Sea Essex.

Entry is free and lunch will be provided, however booking is essential.

The MaxiGreen project began in September 2011 and is a group of European authorities and organisations who have been working together to improve a collection of green spaces and heritage areas that have been neglected over the years.

There will be three guest speakers discussing the issues of raising awareness of our green heritage and key environmental issues; and there is opportunity to participate in workshops on communication and publicity, awareness raising and delivering successful campaigns.

We are very pleased to welcome the following guest speakers at the conference:

Professor Germaine Greer
Germaine Greer, academic and author, has a passion for wildlife and environmental issues and will be speaking about her extensive career of raising public awareness of important issues.

Professor Jules Pretty, University of Essex
Jules Pretty, noted East Anglian academic, environmentalist and author of the award winning book ‘This Luminous Coast’ and the forthcoming book ‘The Edge of Extinction’, will be speaking about consumption patterns, well-being and nature, and the need for green economies.

Dries Gorissen, Agency for Nature and Forests, Flemish Government
Dries Gorissen is the Head of Land Management for the Agency for Nature and Forests in Limburg, Belgium and will be speaking about a large nature project called Bosland where stakeholder participation and involvement of the public is one of the main objectives.

To book on the conference you will need to register using the link below.
