Ok, Some used coffee grounds in an old evian bottle, some oyster mushroom spawn and covered with a plastic bag. Its taken around 8 weeks for the sample to fruit, and the mushrooms produced have been modest, so far. However, this sample shows that coffee grounds will produce edible mushrooms with time, making it clear to see that a waste product found in most towns and cities across the country can become a foundation for local/urban food production. The sample pictured below, once harvested, can be used as a starter culture for more growth, indefinitely! I wonder what could be achieved with large quantities of coffee based oyster mushroom blocks?
