The focus of the recycle centre is to provide low cost bicycles and key skills to those that need them in the community.
How does it benefit the audience?
The centre creates an environmentally sustainable solution to all those unwanted bikes that are currently being used for scrap metal. The bikes come to us from a vast range of sources including the parks department, police, waste department, schools and of course the public. With the helps of our CYTECH trained technicians, volunteers carry out any maintenance needed on these bikes, preparing them for sale for a cost that covers the parts used. We are also piloting a scheme with the help of connections allowing people to gain nationally recognised bike maintenance qualifications. For those bikes parts that are not being used we provide to artists who construct wall mounted art and a broad selection of furniture. Part of the centre is being developed to be used as a meeting and educational area.
How to get involved?
We are always on the lookout for people wanting to participate as volunteers and would love to recycle your unwanted bike.
