On Saturday 6th March, 2010 there is an exciting opportunity to join in a celebration to mark the United Nations International Women’s Day which actually falls on the 8th March.
Turning Tides will be holding Southend’s “International Bazaar” which is inclusive and open to all across the Borough from 11am until 3pm in the atrium of South Essex College in Luker Road. Turning Tides will host a wide variety of activities – everything from information displays; craft stalls; ethnic & local food stands to live entertainment in the central area. The event will be opened by Mayor Brian Smith and visitors will be able to meet Natalie Ellis from BBC’s ‘Dragon’s Den’.
The overall aim of the event is to honour women and their achievements, to reflect the diversity of the community and to encourage involvement from everyone. The occasion aims to raise aspirations and expectations for all women and girls in Southend and the surrounding areas.

This was wonderful. A great bringing together of culture, creativity and community. Look foward to a repeat next year.
It was great, you are right. I came for an hour but stayed for the next three hours which says it all.
