Southend-on-Sea Borough Council presents…
Co-creating Change: strength-based solutions for all
Introducing Appreciative Inquiry; a philosophy and a process for building on strengths for a positive future.
Recognising that “all of us are smarter than one of us” and that people that help create change are more likely to own change; AI is an energising, involving, approach to transformation.
It takes our best experiences, our imaginations and our knowledge of what works and applies this to achieve our goals. It focuses the mind on “where do we want to go?” and “how will we get there?” avoiding getting bogged down by obstacles.
This strength-based approach can be applied to any aspect of work (or indeed home life!). AI principles are used in team meetings right up to engagement summits that span several days. The course is therefore useful for anyone interested in applying positive psychology to change, but you will particularly benefit if you are:
· involved in change management and transformation
· involved in consultation and engagement activities
· leading others
· a mentor or coach
· in HR, Workforce Development or an OD practitioner
You will learn;
· what AI is, where it comes from and why it works
· an understanding of a typical AI model: the 5D model
· how each stage of the process works
· how to put together AI events
This course is interactive and energising! There are group activities and discussions, but no role-playing.
In the spirit of joined-up working, this course is open to partner organisations and the voluntary sector.

Testimonials:
It’s useful to be able to be creative when looking at problems. I also liked focusing on the positive.
It gave me ways of consulting on subjects that might appear too much to tackle.
I really welcome the structure/process AI offers. I felt it legitimises taking positive approaches at work.
Very useful, energising, fun!
This lends itself to day to day implementation as well as long projects
Very useful. I’m full of ideas and will be off to the library to read more!
I will use the positive approach in supervision sessions. I will consider when things have worked well and reflect and duplicate good working methods and stop reflecting on the negatives.
I liked the people, the discussions, the creative approach, nice facilitator, clear materials and schedules.
Great to have Southend BC organising something as positive and progressive on AI.
The tutor explained the subject well and kept the topic interesting throughout.
