Southend in Transition in partnership with Spiralseed present a forest gardening film double bill;
‘A Forest Garden Year’ and ‘Urban Forest Gardens’
In the face of the dual threats of climate change and increasing energy costs, forest gardening expert Martin Crawford takes viewers on an inspiring and practical gardening adventure that offers a message of hope and abundance to green gardeners and farmers. Followed by an informal chat session with experienced local forest gardeners Ron Bates and Graham Burnett.
“Obviously, few of us are in a position to restore the forests.. But tens of millions of us have gardens, or access to open spaces such as industrial wastelands, where trees can be planted. and if full advantage can be taken of the potentialities that are available even in heavily built up areas, new ‘city forests’ can arise…” – Robert Hart, forest gardening pioneer
