Thanks to Southend-on-Sea Borough Council, residents will soon be able to borrow money-saving Electricity Cost Monitors from their nearest library in the borough, as easily as they can borrow a book or DVD.
The monitor, which shows the cost of the electricity being used as it is being used, is very simple and safe to operate and only takes a few minutes to set up.
The monitor updates itself every six seconds so residents can see easily the cost of turning on the TV or making a cup of tea. It is suggested that the device is left monitoring for at least 24 hours.
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council’s Executive Councillor for Public Protection and Waste, Councillor Ian Robertson says: “People have never been more conscious of the need to save money and some householders could cut their energy bills by as much as £340 a year by following the best energy efficiency advice.
